Abstract

The invention relates to an adapter device (10) for receiving digital audio-visual programmes. Said device comprises a control unit (12) having at least one interface (14) to an audio-visual output device (16), at least one slot (24) for a Conditional Access Module (CAM) (26) by means of which encoded programmes can be decoded, a two-directional data bus (22) arranged between the control unit and the slot, and control lines (30) arranged between the control unit and the slot. According to the invention, the device also comprises a CAM (20) which is integrated in a fixed manner and connected to the data bus, a sensor (34) for detecting a CAM which is inserted into the slot, and a commutator (32) connecting the control lines either to the slot or to the CAM which is integrated in a fixed manner, according to a signal from the sensor (34).
