The clip is adapted to be fnade up and sold as aseparate article to be applied to pen caps by the owners thereof. I thus provide in a unitary device presenting no strikingly unusual appearance, an effective means to prevent splitting of the cap, a clip to engage the pocket, and an improved holding means to retain the clip on the pen.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A clip for fountain pens, having means to clamp the same to a pen cap and prevent splitting of said cap, the same including a shank, a split band at the lower end of the shank, the ends of the band overlapping, a clip proper in fiXed relation at its upper end to the shank and having the lower end terminating adjacent to the said band, and a clamp presenting resilient arms near the upper end of the said shank adapted to partially embrace the pen cap, the said split band constituting a'reinforce and protector for the lower end of the cap, the lower end of the band being inturned to conform to the lower end of the cap.
2. A. clip for fountain pens, including a downwardly disposed clip proper adapted to engage a pen pocket, a clamp on the clip near the upper end adapted to engage a pen cap, and a protective band at the lower end of the clip adapted to embrace the pen cap at the lower edge thereof and constitute a reinforce to prevent splitting of said cap.
3. A clip for fountain pens, including a body, clamping means on the body to engage a pen cap, and areinforcing protective band in fixed relation to the clip at the lower end thereof, the lower edge of said band being inturned to conform to the lower end of the cap, the band being split and having its ends overlapped, and constituting with its inturned edge a reinforce to prevent the cap from splitting.
