About the author (1997)

Children's writer Bill Martin, Junior, was born in Kansas and graduated from Emporia State University. He taught in Kansas and was a school principal in Chicago. Martin later developed two literature-based reading programs for Holt, Rhinehart and Winston and acted as a teacher's consultant. Martin has written over three hundred children's books, including Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See?
