Anthea said -- "I wish we all had beautiful wingsto fly with." The Sand-fairy blew himself out, and next moment each child felt a funny feeling, half heaviness and half lightness, on its shoulders.

Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and their baby brother are ready for a summer of fun and games. All around their new house in the country, there are so many places to explore: quaint villages and the surrounding woods, local farms and bakeries. But when they accidentally dig up a wish-granting, ill-tempered, prehistoric Sand-fairy, the children find themselves in one amazing adventure after another. Soon they learn to mind their tongues, for wishes aren’t always what they seem.
