About the author (2010)

Poet and Educator Clement Moore was born on July 15, 1770 in New York City, and was later educated at Columbia College. Moore was a biblical scholar and professor at the Episcopal General Theological Seminary. Moore is best known for his poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", better known in more modern times as "Twas the Night Before Christmas". In 2013 this same title became a New York Times High Profile Title. Clement Moore died in Newport, Rhode Island on July 10, 1863. Robert R. Ingpen was born in Geelong, Australia on October 13, 1936. He began studying illustration and book design at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has written and/or illustrated more than 100 books including versions of The Wind in the Willows, The Jungle Book, A Christmas Carol, and Treasure Island. In 1986, he was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen medal for his contribution to children's literature.
