Great Expectations

Young Pip is shocked when he meets an escaped convict in a lonely churchyard. It's a terrifying experience that changes his life forever. Helped by a mysterious benefactor, the orphan boy grows up to become a wealthy gentleman, yet memories of that day in the churchyard return to haunt him. The story of Pip's life and loves, set against the violent nineteenth century underworld, introduces some of Charles Dicken's most famous characters - the convict Magwitch, the tragic Miss Haversham, the kindly Mr. Joe, the pompous Uncle Pumblechook, the wily lawyer, Mr. Jaggers, and the murderous Orlick.
